무역 서신에 관한 영작은 비교적 용이한 편에 속한다. 하지만, 중간 중간에 들어가는 협상 관련 문구는 매우 세심하게 영작할 필요가 있다.
다음은 실무에서 필자가 영작한 무역 서신 중의 일부를 발췌한 것이다. 원문 중에 이상한 영어 스펠링이 나온 것은 의뢰인이 실제의 명칭을 감추고 의뢰한 경우이다.

당신의 e-mail 잘 받았다. 당신을 알게 되어 기쁘게 생각한다. 약간의 준비 기간을 거친 후 Credit account application 그리고 제품주문과 함께 송금을 당신에게 보낼 것이다. 할 수 있다면 price list를 보낼 때 사진들을 함께 보내달라. 한글판 catalog를 만들기 위해서 이다. 앞으로도 당신의 많은 도움 부탁한다.

I'm very pleased to hear from and know you. After going through a little preparatory period of ours, we'll send you the "Credit Account Application" along with the remittance of money which accompanies the "Stock Order". We would like you to enclose the picture of your products together with the price list to make a catalogue in Korean. We need you to cooperate with us on your and our business.

처음 당신이 나에게 견적을 보내준 가격을 그들에게 최종적으로 제시하였다.
그 회사의 담당자는 장비의 가격은 비싸지만, 나와의 친분관계로 구매 추진을 하여보겠다고 나에게 말하였다.
이 회사의 무역 부서에서 당신에게 연락이 갈지 모르겠다. 그들에게서 연락을 받는다면 나에게 가르쳐 달라. 우리는 order를 획득하도록 최선을 다할 것이다.

지난번 전화 통화에서도 당신에게 이야기 하였지만, 한국에서 LNG boat를 만드는 회사는 현대, 대우, 삼성, 한진 이다.
LNG Boat Type에는 membrane type 과 moos type이 있다. deep장비는 membrane type에 사용되고 있다.
한진은 자금 문제로 인하여 현재 장비 도입 계획을 가지고 있지 않다.
현대는 경험이 많은 dppee 의 장비 도입이 확정되었다.
대우와 삼성은 내년에 추가 장비 도입 예정을 가지고 있다.
Dppee은 대우, 삼성으로부터 장비의 문제점과, A/S의 문제점으로 인하여 신뢰성을 잃었다. 그래서 당신의 장비 판매가 가능할 것으로 예상된다.
얼마전 ULC Corp.의 Mr, Cho와 통화를 하였다. 그들은 LNG boat를 만드는데 필요한 여러가지 부품을 판매하고 있는데 우연히 대우를 방문하였다가 deep 장비의 추진 이야기를 듣고 당신의 회사에 접촉을 하였다고 한다.
Resin certification 을 fax로 보낸다. 확인하기 바란다. 현재 이 resin은 cioo에서 판매를 하고 있다.
지난번 당신이 보내준 견적가격과 기계내용은 lng project에 맞지가 않는 것 같다. 그동안 내가 보내준 자료들을 참조하여 다시 견적을 보내주기 바란다.
현재 나는 계속해서 lng 업무를 하고 있다. 정기적으로 이들회사들을 방문 하고 관리하고 있는 중이다. 나에게 의문 사항이 있다면 연락을 달라.

As I told you on the last call, the manufacturers of the "LNG Boat" in Korea are Hyundai, Daewoo, Samsung and Hanjin. The types of the 'LNG Boat" include the "Membrane" type and the "Moos" type. The "Deep" equipments are used for the membrane type.
Currently, Hanjin don't plan to buy the "Deep" equipments because of its financial strains. Hyundai decided to buy the equipments while Daewoo and Samsung plan to make an additional introduction of them next year.
Daewoo and Samsung don't have confidence in the equipments owing to the problems in them as such and on their A/S. So, you have had an opportunity to sell your equipments.
I have talked to Mr.Cho working with ULC.Corp over the telephone before. He said that the related charger of the company which has sold various parts needed to manufacture the "LNG" boat visited Daewoo accidentally to hear the plan of Daewoo to introduce those equipments, and contact your company.
We send the "Resin Certification" in facsimile. Currently, "cioo" has sold the resin.
I think that your quotation you sent last doesn't fit the LNG project. We need you to send another quotation with reference to data we have sent you.
I have worked on the LNG project, periodically visiting those companies to do business on. We would like you to let me informed of what you want to know.
