A lot of people believe that possessing certain material objects are signs of prestige, sucess or wealt. Things that fall into this category - like expensive watches, jewelry or fancy cars - are called status symbols for they show that the owner has money or power . "A new car might be a status symbol to a banker while a pair of designer jeans may be a status symbol to his secretary," Felix smiled.
